Privacy Policy — Cosmic Daily

Cosmic Daily is a free app that shows you a daily window into space using NASA's open APIs and a few other public astronomy data sources. We do not collect, store, or share any personal data, and there are no accounts, ads, or analytics.

What we don't do

• We do not have user accounts or logins.
• We do not run ads or any advertising SDKs.
• We do not use analytics, tracking, or crash-reporting services.
• We do not collect, sell, or share your personal information with anyone.
• We do not transmit your location, favorites, or settings to any server we control — we don't operate a server at all.

Data that stays on your device

Everything you create in the app is stored only on your device and is never uploaded:

• Favorites — items you save are stored locally.
• Settings — reminder time, font, density, and your location opt-in flag are stored locally.
• Your location (optional) — if you turn on the "My location" view, the app reads your device location once, on your device, purely to center the globe and compute which passes/planets are visible from where you are. Your coordinates are never stored to disk, logged, or transmitted. The permission is opt-in and you can revoke it anytime in system settings.

Network requests to third-party data providers

To show live imagery and data, the app fetches content directly from these public providers. As with any app that loads content from the internet, those providers receive the standard technical information needed to serve a request (such as your device's IP address). The app sends no personal data, identifiers, or location in these requests.

• NASA — pictures, Mars photos, Earth imagery, asteroid and space-weather data.
• Mars Vista — an alternate Mars rover photo source.
• CelesTrak — ISS orbital elements.
• CDS / Aladin Lite — the Sky Map atlas tiles (only when you open Sky Map).
• Open Astronomy Catalogs — supernova light-curve data (Cosmic Explosions detail).

These providers have their own privacy practices, which are outside our control.

Notifications

The optional daily reminder is a local notification scheduled on your device. It does not use push tokens and does not involve any server.

Children's privacy

The app collects no personal data from anyone, including children.

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above.
